Kodachrome 40

I have, as of yesterday, discovered that Kodak has chosen to discontinue the most amazing Super 8 film stock in its line, Kodachrome 40. This is a devastating blow to the process of Solid, since it was, as it always is, my choice film stock. This is yet another obstacle to overcome. Godspeed to us all!

  • I cant understand why this film type is being discontinued. It is one of the most accessible films on the market, and up until now a great all round cartridge. A real blow to cine enthusiasts. Not sure what to do now, does mean it will soon be impossible to get hold of any type of cartridge? I dont get why these huge companies forget about whats made them the multinationals they are today. And because of the 'digital ere' we find ourselves in they choose to stop production of one of the original types of camera film. Would they discontinue their parents once they were of age and not earning money anymore? I doubt it. Sort it out Kodak.

  • There is a replacement, so all is not lost. At this time, Kodak is still dedicated to the Super 8 filmmaker. It is just another form that will be available.
