Sunday Film Shoot for "Solid": The Courier and Awakening

Early this morning...

...4:15am...that's all I have to say at this point...and no sleep anywhere in this room...

...at 4:15 am, I jump from my sleep...I have overslept...my goal was to awake at 3:30am and leave at 4:30am...I am ready in twenty-five minutes...leave at twenty till...on the road...phone call from my Mother...she has not left yet...

...5am...Woodward Park...I wait...a parked car nearby...four young men walk by, escaping the darkness and returning to their parked car...

...5:30am...my Mother arrives...final prep...nearing 6am...the black is melting from the sky...

...we walk to the edge of the hidden pathways...as I survey my chosen location, I see giant sprinklers in action...my path is soaked...the water sprinklers pose a threat to the camera...I improvise, and I change my shots...

...as the light of morning increases, I decrease my iris...

...the scenes flow nicely...my Mother gives a wonderful performance...I was very particular about the details concerning my Mother and Father in regards to this film...I am very honored to have this ability, to include them, and I want them to take away a sense of pride once they see how beautiful they are on screen...this was my quest...

...we leave the park...travel to Cafe Cubana...they are not open yet...car pool to Brady Street, Downtown...shoot final scene in front of doorway...capture a building in the reflection of the door's glass...

...return to Cafe Cubana...have coffee...

...leave for Tally's...have breakfast...

Later on...

...I drive Fae to work...I leave for 1:30 meeting at Cafe Cubana with Conan, Derick and Jes to shoot a pivotal scene, the scene relating to the still photograph that will become a puzzle...I arrive in the Phoenix...it is barely past 1pm...I forgot the camera...to the expressway...the apartment...I grab the camera...back in the Phoenix...I return to Cubana...no one is there...I begin the set-up...

...as I find my first shot, Conan arrives...as he is changing into his costume, Derick and Jes arrive...I make the first few shots myself, with the crew sitting patiently and looking on...this scene will not be complete...once the still photo is converted, I will return and shoot those scenes, which will be simple overhead shots...

...in the final scene of the day, Derick assists as Conan and I create a transitional scene which leads to another scene, previously shot...

...afterwards, I discuss the studio shoot (tomorrow) and the Osage Hills shoot (Saturday)...

Studio:

black background scenes for "Memory"
final scene for "Awareness"
the final scenes of "Awakening" that involve Conan
and the concept footage for the trailer

Osage Hills:

depart at 6am

...stay tuned...
